Our team was beyond fortunate to have been given a loaner boat for  the season. Pan Am Dragon Boat graciously provided a boat, paddles and PFDs for use during our inaugural season. Thank you, Mike Kerkmann for your gracious support!

 

 

 

Here are just a few photos of our first season. Note that some of the pictures are of the team in Voyageur Canoes. We paddled in the canoes for several practices before our loaner boat arrived. It’s a little different than paddling a dragon boat, but we learned a lot in the early practice sessions. Thanks to our “main” steersman, David W. for getting us out on the water!

 

 

 

 

Our boat, arrived in mid-May. She is named “Blossom” because we knew we would do just that as we came together as a team. Our first practices were at Long Run Park. By  mid-summer, we moved to the great and mighty Ohio River. Thanks also to our back up steersman and fearless boat trailer driver, John C.

 

 

 

 

More fun on the Ohio River – the Louisville’s Mayor’s Race, July 20th, 2013. We won the dragon boat division! (We probably don’t need to mention that we were the only dragon boat entered in the race):
